The Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA) have reported a dramatic 26% year on year new car registration increase in April 2013. Corsa, Fiesta, Astra and Focus were the top 4 models – in that order.
The UK new car figures released by SMMT have looked healthy throughout 2013 however this news is a little unexpected given the current economical climate.
Why is this happening? Consumer confidence is seeing a measured improvement within the UK automotive world. The industry thinking is that as disposable income slowly gets freed up, spending money on car acquisition is a lot easier at present than on property acquisition. Technological advancements in green technology has also meant that people want up to date fuel efficiency solutions with their car. Lastly, car leasing for shorter periods of time has been a increasing trend throughout the double dip recession and this is still very popular.
